Twenty-seven educators, representing fifteen different schools, participated this past Saturday in the Mountain Naturalist Educators Workshop. The workshop was a joint venture of the White Mountain Wildlife and Nature Center, Audubon Arizona, the Arizona Game and Fish Department, and the Navajo County School Superintendent's Office. Highlights of the all-day session included Cathy Wise, from Audubon Arizona, presenting the Science Takes Wings program, Lannie Gillespie, the Navajo County Education Service Agency Director, discussing the Navajo County Wetlands Planning Grant, and Eric Proctor, from Arizona Game and Fish, presenting the Arizona Game and Fish Science Resources for Teachers.
As you can see from our photos, this was a hands-on session where educators learned strategies and activities to enrich their curriculum, and connect kids with nature in a real and meaningful way.

A number of resources were provided and even more free and local resources were highlighted. All of the educators, who represented K-12 and both public and private schools, were encouraged to draw upon the Nature Center to further enrich their classroom activities and use our natural environment to inspire learning.

Thank you all for attending and please let us know how we can help you in the future.
The Nature Center is located at 425 S. Woodland Road in Pinetop-Lakeside, between Big Springs Environmental Study Area and Mountain Meadow Recreation Complex.
